MIREN acts as an initiative of the Global Mountain Biodiversity Assessment (GMBA) and is an officially endorsed project of DIVERSITAS. It cooperates with the Mountain Research Initiative (MRI) and is linked to other related initiatives including the Global Change in Mountain Regions (GLOCHAMORE) programme, the Global Observation Research Initiative (GLORIA), and the Consortium for Integrated Climate Research in Western Mountains (CIRMOUNT).
